Mapping out your story may give you the boost you need to start writing. Whenever I come up with an idea for a story, I road-test it. I start a short pitch, I brainstorm plot and characters and their motivations. That way, I have pages of notes before I ever go near the computer. As a result, I'm bursting with energy and ideas and I can't wait to start writing.

If you know what you're writing about but you just can't put it down on the page, open an audio recorder on your phone. Then, press the record button and just say what you want to type out loud. When you're done with a section, play back what you recorded and write it out. This is a really easy way to get started if you know what to say but you just don't know how to say it.

Many narrative writers find it easier to work backwards. Do you have an ending yet? If you know how your story ends, you can simply map out the key events leading up to the ending of the story. This makes it easier to identify what details, character development, and themes you need to build on in the chapters leading up to the climax and resolution.
  • Question
How do I get rid of writer's block if I have ideas, but I have poor grammar?
    Community Answer
Don't worry about your grammar on your first draft. Just get all your ideas out on paper and work on the grammar later for your second draft. You can also have someone read your work and help you edit if you know someone that is good with grammar.
  • Question
How do I prevent my writer's block?
    Community Answer
Make a list of inspirational things, like people, places or quotes. Refer to it when you feel a block coming.
  • Question
What if I can't think of anything to write on a topic already chosen?
    Community Answer
Read other stories about the topic, and note down some of your favorite parts. I always do this for inspiration.
  • Question
What if I already have an idea as to what my story will be about but I cant be bothered to actually sit down and write it?
    Community Answer
Then you'll never get it written. Try writing notes or making an outline first if you don't want to just dive in. This will make the writing process easier. Eventually you'll have to get down to work, though!
  • Question
What if I can't find inspiration anywhere?
    Community Answer
Try changing your surroundings or how you're doing something in your day/life. Just changing one little thing, like how you get to work/school or an appointment, can change your perspective. A changed perspective can allow new ideas in easier, and that can lead to inspirations.
  • Question
What if i have to write an article for a newspaper, and every sentence I write sounds off because I think in a different language?
    Community Answer
Try transcribing your thoughts in your native language, then translating them into the desired language. After you get all of your ideas down, go through and edit/ rewrite each sentence so it flows in the desired language. Have someone who is fluent, or native to the desired language read-over and refine your work.
  • Question
How do I come up with a plot line when writing a novel?
    Community Answer
Try reading other books, watching movies, and even listening to music. Getting a general idea of a genre is also helpful. You could also try creating characters and a setting first. Then you'll know where and when your story is taking place and who it's happening to so you can make it as realistic to your story as possible.

You are never too young to write. Set small writing goals and consider joining a (online) writing club for young writers and authors. Don't pay attention to what those people are saying. Don't give up on your dream of being a writer.

To improve the vibe in your writing place, clean your writing space. Reset by engaging in another artistic project. Attempt to get some fresh air and clear your head. Try writing when you've completed all of these tasks.
