Sing it with the music for most of your practice session, then try it acapella once or twice at the end of practice. When you sing acapella, you're more likely to undercut the intervals between notes, which will throw your pitch off throughout the song.

I have a great voice, but usually when I sing, I get a sore throat and my voice cracks. Is there anything I can do?

There are a few things you could try. First, I recommend singing lessons. A professional can teach you the proper skills and help you stop you voice cracking. Secondly, make sure the song you're singing is within your vocal range. (Again, a singing teacher can help with this.) Third, always warm up before a performance,15-20 minutes should be enough, but if the song is challenging, try 25-40 minutes. Finally, your voice may be cracking because you're nervous, or because of a medical issue. If this is the case you should talk to a doctor or vocal coach about this.

Yes, you need to take care of and refine your voice. I personally recommend waiting until you are a bit older and your voice is more developed. However, I am not your mother and believe that everyone should have the option to choose their course in life even without others' approval. So, if you insist on auditioning so early, you need to choose a song, perfect it, and diligently take great care of your voice.
