    Expert Answer
It can be really frustrating to be right on the cusp of the grade you want. Try checking in with your teacher to see if revising previous assignments for more credit is a possibility, or if there are any other upcoming assignments that might allow you to raise your grade.

It can be hard to change your mindset about school and grades, but try doing some positive thinking exercises. Try looking up online meditations for positive thinking and how to create a mantra for yourself.
  • Question
How do I stay on the honor roll when a classmate is trying to bring me down?
    Community Answer
Focus on yourself. Regardless of what your classmate does, you will be on the honor roll as long as you keep up your grades. Ignore her attempts to distract you and put your frustration towards her into your homework.
  • Question
What happens if your grades are up but you didn't get into the honor roll?
    Community Answer
Find out what qualifies you at your school for honor roll. You'll need to know: Exactly how good do your grades have to be? Are there other requirements (behavior expectations, being on time, etc. ) that could keep you off of honor roll? Keep working hard, and don't give up. You can ask a teacher or counselor what else you need to do to get on honor roll if you are confused. If you think it's a mistake that you aren't on honor roll, talk to the counselor or an administrator at your school.
  • Question
    How long should I study?
    Community Answer
The answer to this question will vary from person to person. Some people may not need to study very long to master a certain skill, while others may need to practice repeatedly for hours. The bottom line is that you should keep studying until you feel like you know the material well enough to complete your schoolwork.
  • Question
Can I still get on the honor roll if I fail in first quarter?
    Community Answer
This depends entirely on your school's requirements for honor roll students. You should find out what your school's specific requirements are and work really hard to improve your grades for the next quarter.
  • Question
How can I be better than the smart students who try to distract me?
    Community Answer
Ignore them. When you hear someone trying to talk to you, ask the teacher to move. If he or she says no, just simply ignore them. People want attention. If you give them attention then they would continue to seek attention. Just ignore!
  • Question
Why is becoming an honor roll student hard for me to achieve?
    Community Answer
Anyone can get Honor roll. It is an achievable goal. You may be lacking in confidence or not applying yourself sufficiently to the work needing to be studied. Stick at it, get tutoring help and focus on the end goal.
  • Question
What if I get one F on my report card?
    Community Answer
In that case, you won't make honor roll this term. Start making a plan for how you'll bring your grade up in that class so you can get on the honor roll next time around.
  • Question
What happens if you have trouble taking notes?
    Community Answer
You'd be having trouble taking your notes by either not understanding the concept, simply getting distracted, or the teacher goes slide-by-slide too fast? Or too slow? Just ask the teacher to slow down on the 'slides' if he/she passes by the slides too fast or too slowly. If you're getting distracted, simply ask the teacher if you can move up in front of the classroom (where participation occurs), or if you have a friend and they're bothering you, then tell them to stop distracting you because you want to stay on the task at hand. If you really don't understand the concept, then plan ahead by having after-school sessions with your teacher. Ask a lot of questions too.
  • Question
How do I increase my math grade from a D to an A+?
    Community Answer
Study really hard -- most top students seek a tutor or adult help with whatever subject they're trying to bring up. Always have a healthy lifestyle -- that adds to your aspiration to get a better grade or get on the Honor Roll. Also, do extra activities if you have the time, such as drama club or math clubs, as these can boost up your GPA by being involved in other areas of education that you like or are interested in.
  • Question
Why isn't C an honor roll grade and B is?
    Community Answer
Because a C grade is considered "average," and the honor roll is for exceptional academic performance.

  • Question
What do I do if I get an F on my report card?
    Community Answer
Talk to your teacher, and see if s/he has options to help bring your grade up, like a tutor. You can also see if you can stay after school or come in early before everyone else gets there to concentrate on your studies better.
  • Question
Will a B grade let me join the honor roll?
    Community Answer
It depends on your school. The honour role has a specific minimum percentage so if your B grade meets that percentage, then you're on the honour roll. But you should really never settle. Instead, aim higher like actually being the top three or top 10 if things like that are published in your school. You'll know you're doing well when you are acknowledged publicly.
  • Question
Do you think your favorite teacher will hate you for not making the honour roll twice or will she have faith in you that you can do it?
    Community Answer
Your teacher won't hate you for not making the honor roll. They may encourage you and push you harder during the next semester, but this is only because they want to see you succeed.
  • Question
Does music count in honour roll? Because if you fail the extra curricular activity will I not be on the honour roll list even if I'm good in my other classes
    Community Answer
These specifics vary from school to school. Check with your school for the answer. You can ask one of your teachers, a guidance counselor, or other administrator.
  • Question
What do I do if I can't concentrate on my work and am basically failing? Will I still pass 6th grade?
    Community Answer
If you can't bring up your grades, you may not pass, so it's important that you take some steps to prioritize your studies. Talk with your parents and teacher(s) about your problem with concentration in order to figure out a solution. Ask for a tutor in the subjects where you really struggle. Make sure you have time set aside each day for your homework in a quiet, distraction-free place.

    Community Answer
