Ask them about their plans for the weekend or how they plan on spending their summer. Let the conversation flow organically as you get to know them. Consider asking questions about their lifestyle and values as well.

Be yourself. It may sound basic, but it's true. Show up on time and be present. Avoid taking out your phone while on the date. Genuinely try to see the best and what you like about that person instead of what you don't like about them.
  • Question
How do I sit next to my crush while he is with his friends without coming off awkward?
    Community Answer
Confidence is key. Walk up and ask if the seat is taken. Then strike up a conversation with the guy, including his friends. The more you know about his friends, the less awkward you will feel around them.
  • Question
How do I stop blushing when I see the guy I like?
    Community Answer
Talk about things involving him. Saying things about yourself could become embarrassing.
  • Question
Every time I walk out in the hall he is looking at me. What does this mean? I want to talk to him but I am afraid he will reject me. What do I do?
    Community Answer
Just start a friendly conversation! Ask him how his classes are going. He won't "reject" you over the course of a conversation, and you might be able to get a better idea of how he feels about you by paying attention to what he says and his body language. Just try to get to know him as a friend and see where it goes.
  • Question
How do I get to know a guy if I am very nervous about talking to him?
    Community Answer
I get what you mean. It can be nerve racking for people to break the ice. Try rehearsing what you will say in the mirror. It doesn’t have to be word for word when you talk to him, but find things to talk about, such as his classes, what he likes about this school, and his friends. If you still feel nervous, keep giving yourself pep talks. Tell yourself to just go for it, because you only live once and it’s OK if it doesn’t go as planned because life is not perfect. If you just end up making friends with him, that’s great too! There are plenty of other guys out there.
  • Question
How do I start a conversation with my crush when others are around? Also, how can I encourage him to be my friend and call me without me having to call him first?
    Community Answer
You need common ground. The more you have in common, the easier it is to converse. It's better if there is something only you and him have in common, it gives you an excuse to directly talk to him. Becoming better friends with him comes with time and trust. You'll want him to feel more comfortable around you. You can do this by intentionally listening and responding to everything he says. Avoid staring, spacing out, or getting quiet because it'll make him feel like it's a one-sided conversation. He will also want to listen to you more because he will feel like you understand him. He'll call you when he wants to call you and becoming closer friends will make him want to call you more.
