Glued-in extensions can last up to two months, but may begin to loosen up in as little as four weeks. Using oil-based hair products can destroy the glue.

Apply an oil-based solvent or just use straight oil. Allow it to sit on the hair for about 15 minutes to soften the glue, then carefully comb out the extensions.

If you don't prefer attaching tracks directly to your hair, you can use a stocking cap. It's a good idea to use one because it will create a barrier between the glue and your hair, protecting it from damage.
  • Question
Is it safe to use glue if I have used chemical products on my skin?
    Community Answer
You don't put extensions on the scalp, you put them on the roots of you hair, so it shouldn't matter as long as you don't put glue on your skin.
  • Question
How do I have a part in the center without seeing glue or where the hair is showing?
    Community Answer
You need to start out with clean hair, style it as you would any other day (without putting product in it) or just see how it naturally falls. Then just put them in where they don't show. Don't put them in on the top where your part is, just go ear to ear with a strand right above the top of ear, and then add smaller pieces to the sides as you go. You'll know where they won't show.
  • Question
Do I need special hair extensions for this glue?
    Community Answer
No, the glue will work on any hair extensions.
  • Question
How long will hair extensions stay in my hair?
    Community Answer
They can last anywhere from one to six weeks. The glue sometimes needs to be reapplied in areas. The quality of the hair makes a difference; mine stays shiny and soft, but straight extensions tangle really badly. I wear 1/2 bundle of 100% human hair, and 1/2 bundle of premium blend heat-resistant and human hair mixed.
  • Question
How can I put extensions in if my hair is very thin on top?
    Travis N Connie Blubaugh
    Community Answer
Tape-in extensions are good for thinning hair, but I would get them professionally done to make sure you can't see the track. They usually last longer and are better quality if you have them done at a salon as well. However, if your hair is really thin on top, it would probably be best to invest in a wig.
  • Question
When extensions are glued in, how do I remove them without causing damage to my natural hair?
    Community Answer
You can apply oil to the root of the extensions and leave it in for about five minutes, then carefully remove the extensions from your hair.
  • Question
Can I tint or color extensions?
    Community Answer
You can color 100% human hair extensions whichever color you want, it is the same as coloring your own hair. If you're planning to color synthetic extensions, it's best to start with platinum blonde because you can't color synthetic lighter, they can only be colored darker. So choose wisely, and if you're not sure how dark you want them to be, I suggest going a little lighter than what you want that way you can get an idea of what it will look like and go from there. Once you go dark you can't go back.
  • Question
Can I use wood glue to put extensions?
    Community Answer
No. That would not only damage your hair and scalp, but it would be extremely difficult to remove.
  • Question
Can these be bought at any beauty supply store?
    Community Answer
They can be purchased at most beauty supply stores. Check out some in your area on Google and either call to confirm or go to their website. If you have a Sally's where you live, they have a pretty good variety.
  • Question
How long do I leave glue-in extensions in?
    Community Answer
They last anywhere from 3 weeks to a few months, depending on the type of hair and how you maintain them.
  • Question
How do I keep my real hair from showing after I put new hair extensions in?
    Community Answer
Hair extensions are to make your natural hair look longer. If you don’t want your natural hair to show, you should look at wigs instead.
