  • Question
Why don't bike hanging websites feature ladies bikes as well as men's bikes?
    Community Answer
Anymore, 'men's' bikes are considered the standard and 'women's' bikes are considered a frame option. Many women buy men's bikes because there are so many more options to chose from. So, they're just more common right now.
  • Question
I have a set of bike storage shelves from CB2. There is no problem with a road bike, but the handlebars on a hybrid are wide and I have to turn the front wheel. Is it okay with the front wheel turned? Will it cause damage?
    Community Answer
There will be no damage to the bike with a wheel turned. Think about all the shock and abuse a bike takes during a quickly-paced ride on rough ground. The only thing to worry about is the rim brakes (if applicable). There needs to be some coating or rubber between the wheel and the hook. Other than that you are golden.
  • Question
Why does it matter if the back wheel of the bike rests on the floor when hanging from the wall?
    Community Answer
If the back wheel rests on the ground, the bike will not be completely stable. This makes it easy to knock the bike off the hook.
  • Question
Is there a risk of damaging either front or back wheel and/or spokes when hanging the full weight of a bike on bike hooks?

If the bike is properly hung, and not twisted, there should be no problem. The weight will put two spokes under tension, which is what they're designed to do. Common rims are strong enough to support the weight of the bike. If you use a special racing rim, go by the manufacturer's suggestion. If your bike is significantly heavier than a standard bike, you might want to worry. I've had bikes on hooks for over 20 years with no damage. But the act of hanging it is the greatest potential for harm. Make sure you hook the rim, not a spoke. Of course there is the risk of the bike falling during the process. But once it's up there correctly, it shouldn't have any problems.
  • Question
Will hanging the bike from a single hook from the rim of the wheel damage the wheel?

Anything hanging for a long extended time will cause damage to anything with weight to it. In time it can damage the front wheel, causing it to become warped.
