Yes. I have that holding up a 15 lb mirror in my room. It is definitely strong enough.
  • Question
How do I hang heavy mirrors on reinforced concrete walls?
    Community Answer
Both the mirror and the installation need to be protected by proper mounting technique. There are mirror mounting brackets, which you can obtain from a home store or form local glass suppliers, which grab the edges of the glass once they are installed. There is a framework behind which is bolted or screwed to the wall. You will need a masonry bit and some luck to avoid hitting any reinforcing in the wall.

A lot is going to depend on the weight of the picture. You probably want to use a screw as they are threaded and get a better grip on the picture.

Are you sure the studs are wood? Could possibly be metal depending on the age of the house. A lot of newer homes use metal studding. Try to pre-drill a hole to find out.
  • Question
I'm trying to drill a hole into a stud wall. I have found two studs by magnets, so I'm drilling between the two studs about 2 and a half inches and still no wood. What should I do?
    Community Answer
Is the screw spinning freely? if so then you are through the drywall and screwing into nothing. If the screw has resistance then you are drilling into wood.
