  • Question
I'm 14 and I've started having pimples, acne, and skin issues, but my mom thinks I'm too young for products, and also says I'm under internet pressure. What should I do?
    Community Answer
There's really no such as thing as being "too young" to use acne prevention products, but assuming you can't convince your mom of that, see if she will buy you a simple face wash and facial moisturizer. Washing and moisturizing your face twice a day will usually make a huge difference when it comes to acne.
  • Question
How can I get rid of pores and blackheads?
    Community Answer
I use a plaster strip for blackheads, and I suggest using a facial cleanser for your pores.
  • Question
Does touching my face contribute to acne?
    Community Answer
It can, yes, if you touch your face when your hands are dirty. It's best to try to avoid it if you can.
  • Question
My arms are very bumpy! What do I do?
    Community Answer
You can try applying some Nivea body lotion or moisturizer. If that doesn't help, you should see a dermatologist.
  • Question
I exfoliate my skin every day, is it okay to do that?
    Community Answer
Try to limit exfoliation to 2-3 times a week. Over-exfoliation may strip the skin of its natural oils and make the skin dry. While you're a teen, this won't be as noticeable but since you want to get into a good skin care routine for life, start off doing it properly.
  • Question
Is it okay to exfoliate my skin every day?
    Community Answer
It is only recommended to exfoliate two or three times per week, because otherwise your skin may get overly irritated.
  • Question
How can rice water help in toning the skin?
    Community Answer
Soak a cotton ball or pad and apply the rice water to your face after cleansing to minimize the appearance of pores and tighten skin. This natural skin toner promotes cell growth, stimulates blood flow, and helps keep your skin smooth and bright.
  • Question
I tried all of these, but my skin still looks bad. What I should do?
    Community Answer
Staying hydrated is the most important thing. Try to drink around about 8 glasses of water per day.
  • Question
How do I get rid of pimples in a week?
    Community Answer
Use tea tree oil, but this might take a while. If you don't want to wait too long, try to ice the pimple. The redness will go away, and it'll become smaller.
  • Question
I am 13 years old. Can I use a toner, and can I use a baby shampoo as a cleanser for my face?
    Community Answer
Toner should be okay (just make sure your parents know), but don't use baby shampoo as your facial cleanser, as it could dry out your face. Shampoo is formulated for your hair, not your face.
  • Question
My skin is dry in the winter and oily in the summer. How can I determine my face type and make a routine?
    Community Answer
Use products formulated for dry skin during the winter, then switch to products formulated for oily skin during the summer.
  • Question
I am 14 and I popped two pimples on my cheeks, thinking that there would be no marks left behind, but now my cheeks have black marks where the pimples were.

    Community Answer
You have scars from popping pimples before they were ready. When a pimple erupts on your face, don't pop it immediately. Wait until the head is white. Then get two Q-tips and put one on either side of the pimple. Gently squeeze the pimple until it starts to pop, but don't let it bleed. Once all the pus has transferred to the Q-tips, use a facial cleanser from CeraVe or Cetaphil with cold water, and let it air-dry. Do not touch the area with unwashed hands, or you'll introduce bacteria into your newly cleaned pore.
  • Question
I have pimples on my forehead and cheeks, but I do proper skin care every day. What more can I do?
    Community Answer
Use products meant specifically for the face and specifically for your skin type. Take a shower every time you get super sweaty, and wash your face in the shower. Use an extra strong acne cream.
