Most of the shower surrounds are 58 inches high. Is it okay to put the shower head above the surround?

If you are unable to move them from one side to the other, you may be able to swap the knobs on your faucet to match the water. Otherwise, there is no way to change if it is a single-handle faucet, and you will just have to remember which way to turn it.
