We have 100's of Japanese beetles on our peach trees. They are on the peaches also. What is the most effective way to get rid of these beetles?

I believe you need to use a variety of measures. I have found spraying trees with Neem Oil and using physical picking of the beetles off of the trees work the best. The Neem can be used up until the day of harvest.

If you are squeamish about handling insects, purchase latex or nitrile gloves or try and scoop the beetles up with a piece of paper or a cup. They are poor fliers and easily caught, but if one flies off, simply wait until it lands and catch it. You can also catch them with a butterfly net.

You can get the jump on them if you start spraying in the last week of May or the first week of June, that way, once they start eating your plants, they will die off much sooner. As opposed to being caught off guard and spraying once you first notice; the damage will have already been done. By establishing a regime of consistently spraying preventative pesticides before they strike, you can lessen the damage done to your plants in the long run.
