You could also dry the clothes in a tumble dryer using a low heat setting. Tumbling softens fabrics.
  • Question
Can I use a fragrance oil instead of an essential oil?
    Community Answer
As it is only serving to provide fragrance to the fabric softener, it is fine to make this substitute, just be aware that some people are allergic to certain components in fragrance oils.
  • Question
Where can I get essential oils?
    Community Answer
You can buy them online. Companies that sell essential oils don't have to disclose the actual concentration of the oils, so avoid cheaper brands that may have as little as 10%. True essential oils should not contain any other ingredients.
  • Question
Could I use lemon juice for scent, or would it counteract other ingredients?
    Community Answer
Be cautious with lemon juice, as it can bleach clothes. I would recommend getting lemon essential oil instead.
  • Question
Can I add any of these to the self-dispensing cup in the washer?
    Community Answer
    Yes, you can!
  • Question
How do I make a fabric softener for my carpet?
    Community Answer
Use the baking soda and vinegar mixture. Just be sure it's with the rinse water and not the soap.
  • Question
    Will this help with static?
    Community Answer
Yes, this should help reduce static on your clothing.
  • Question
Why is vinegar in every recipe? Can I just use hair conditioner?
    Community Answer
I think they use vinegar to avoid excess build-up of detergents and laundry additives. Vinegar takes all that out so your clothes won't be so stiff. The hair conditioner actually does the softening, but then added to the detergent it might create too much build-up on your clothes and also in your washer.
  • Question
Can I use baking powder instead of baking soda?
    Crystal Mccarthy
    Community Answer
While baking powder does have baking soda in it, keep in mind that there are many other ingredients in it that can alter the pH of the material you are cleaning.
