    Expert Answer
Simply place some battery-powered fairy lights inside of a mason jar! You can even change the color of the light by painting the jar with some translucent paint. You can also try coating the jar with a layer of Mod Podge dyed with food coloring.

How do I let the heat from the bulb disperse?
    Community Answer
You can punch extra little holes in the lid, around the light fixture, so that the heat will exit.

    Are these weather/outdoor proof?
    Community Answer
If you take them outside with you just for the night, then, yes, they'll be fine. But don't leave them outside indefinitely.

You can try tea lights. These are small and inexpensive and they don't get hot. You can find them at almost all stores, but they're probably cheapest at Jo-Ann's.
  • Question
I've seen this done where the bottom of the jar was cut off before making it into a light. Is that necessary?
    Community Answer
No. Placing tea light candles in the jar works just fine.
