  • Question
Will a male canary hurt the eggs when the female leaves to eat?
    Community Answer
The female doesn't leave her eggs - ever. The male brings her all the things she needs to survive, such as food.

  • Question
How can I put two yellow wagtails in one cage? I'm afraid they might fight.
    Community Answer
Keep them apart for a while in separate cages, then slowly introduce them. If they do fight, keep them apart for longer and try again. If it still doesn't work, you will have to house them separately.
  • Question
What should I do if my cockatiels won't breed?

Ensure you have a male and a female. (You may need to DNA test to be sure.) Then, ensure they are the right age. They should be no younger than 12 months, preferably 18 before being allowed to breed. If they are too old, they should not be bred either. Make sure their nest is suitable; cockatiels need a large nest with the opening up high. They also need suitable nesting material that will not pose a risk of injury, and a safe, secure area for their cage. Finally, they may not feel comfortable or safe nesting with other birds near the nest, so if there are other birds around, consider relocating them.
  • Question
How do I stop my budgies from breeding?
    Gabby
    Community Answer
If there isn't a breeding box in the cage, the birds shouldn't breed because there isn't anywhere for the eggs to be laid.
  • Question

Tell them about how you would look after it well and offer to do some jobs around the house to help pay for it.
  • Question
What types of branches are safe for use in an indoor aviary?
    Community Answer
You shouldn’t keep branches you found outside in your aviary. There’s a risk of disease and poison, depending on whether or not pesticide was used.
  • Question
Can I make a small cage for 2-4 robins?
    Community Answer
No, that is too small for them. An appropriate size is twice the hight of a bird and twice the wingspan of the bird. Since you have four birds, you should measure the wingspan of one and multiply it by 4. The wingspan of 1 robin is about 40 cm, so for 2 you'd need 80cm^2, for 3 you'd need 120 cm^2, and for 4 you'd need 160 cm^2. Remember that bigger is always better when it comes to bird cages.
