Cut out 2 matching squares that are any size. Sew the sides together, inside-out, starting 1" down from the top. Then, sew the bottom. Press the seams open and clip the bottom corners. At the top, fold it down and stitch 1/2" around to create a drawstring casing, but leave the sides open. Use a safety pin to pull your string or ribbon drawstring through, then flip the bag inside out.

How do I make a simple sling purse?

With 3 pieces of fabric (or 5 if you want it lined), cut one piece the size you want the purse, cut another twice that size. The third is for the strap. Right the sides together, then sew the body of the purse on 3 sides. The remaining fabric of the larger piece becomes the flap for the purse, the edges of which will have to be hemmed. Cut the third piece of fabric as long and wide as you desire for a strap. Cut it twice as wide and, again, right the sides together, then sew up one of the sides. Turn it right side out, then attach it to the purse at the ends.
