From outside of the EU, you're likely to need a work visa; working without one can get you and your employer into a lot of trouble. The gov.uk website has guidance on what kind of visa you need depending on the country you come from and other factors, but in general you need to be prepared for the possibility that your prospective employer may need to be able to "sponsor" your application and justify hiring you from overseas (e.g. they may have to show that they tried and failed to find a qualified British person first).
