    Use any outdoor acrylic. Find them at Michael's, Jo-Ann, Walmart or any hobby store. To find the red you like, buy several 2-oz. bottles and mix up the perfect color.

    Can I dry a gourd after it is painted?

    No, you cannot. Gourds must cure first, which could take up to five months or so. Gourds mold during the curing process and must be cleaned with bleach, soap and water, which would clear off or damage your paint.

    If you are hanging your gourd outside, even the permanent marker will fade. Try using the marker, then painting over the areas with outdoor acrylic paint.
