  • Question
Am I reading Homestuck too fast? I want to savor the comic, but I'm already hooked. I have read up to the end of act 3 after two days. I don't know how many acts there are, but am I going too fast?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
Don't worry about reading too fast. Remember, you can always read it again. A second reading often reveals many details you may have missed.
  • Question
    Is Act 4 that important?
    Ayla Craig
    Community Answer
Every act is crucial. As said in the article, no detail is useless. Act 4 is even more important than the rest.
  • Question
How does one convince another to read homestuck?
    Community Answer
Homestuck is a tricky beast, and it's definitely not for everyone. Don't try to convince them by showing them spoilers, but maybe telling them about what kind of story it is and how it's affected you. If someone absolutely refuses to read the comic, it may be for the best. Don't force anyone into doing it.
  • Question
Why is the first part so confusing?
    Community Answer
The first part of Homestuck doesn't make much sense to the first-time reader, because a lot of words are made up and not really explained. It introduces a lot of complicated ideas and prepares the reader for the rest of the story.
  • Question
Can I read it on a phone?
    Community Answer
It's possible, but you may miss out on the awesome flash animations, so I wouldn't do it.
  • Question
How long does it take to read it to the current page?
    Community Answer
Depending on your pacing (say, about 200-300 pages daily), it can take almost a month.
  • Question
    Can I skip recaps?
    Community Answer
You can, but they are most often satire and can reveal or even foreshadow things to come.
  • Question
Should the text under the pictures be weird in the first act? On my computer, it looks like it is letters written on letters.
    Community Answer
No, and that doesn't sound good. The text should look normal.
  • Question
    What site is Homestuck on?
    Community Answer
The beginning of the article shows where to find it. It can be found on Homestruck.com.
  • Question
Should I still read Homestuck if I'm worried the fandom is dead?
    Community Answer
Homestuck is a separate entity from its fandom. While the fandom is quite active, it isn't a necessary component of Homestuck needed to fully enjoy it.
  • Question
How old should you be to read Homestuck?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
    There is no minimum age.
  • Question
What do I do if I keep having to restart since I forget about it?
    Community Answer
You can use the "Save Game" function in blue hyperlink. It saves your position in the comic, but remember to use the "Load Game" to get back to it.
  • Question
What do I do if I think I might be bored reading Homestuck again?
    Community Answer
It's not necessary to read it again. Just put it aside for now. You can always pick it up again if you feel like it.
  • Question
Is Homestuck really drawn in MS Paint?
    Community Answer
    Yes, it is.
  • Question
What should I do if the words hurt my eyes to look at for more than a few pages?
    Community Answer
Turn your brightness down on your device.
  • Question
Do I need to read Rose’s tutorials?
    Community Answer
You don't, it's extremely similar to Hussie's recaps. They can be humorous at times and they help you to understand what's going on in the game.
  • Question
Has all of the story ended, or does it have a ending? For I don't want to get to the end to find out it's a cliffhanger and I don't want to ask google in case of spoilers.
    Michael Parkey
    Community Answer
While Homestuck has ended (on a cliffhanger), there are two epilogues as well as Homestuck² (the events in Homestuck² take place after the epilogues). You do not have to read the epilogues to read Homaestuck² but I would suggest reading the recap so that you actually know what is going on.
  • Question
When will I meet the trolls? Everyone is talking about them and hyping them up. I'm in act 3.
    Michael Parkey
    Community Answer
A few of them message the kids in act 4, so technically that is the first place you'll see them. But you'll actually get to know them in Act 5.
  • Question
So I saw an answer that said “There is no minimum age” for people to read it but the tips and warnings say there is a lot of inappropriate stuff in it. So is it really appropriate for people under 13?
    Michael Parkey
    Community Answer
Probably not. I would suggest against reading it before you're 13 because there are some very mature topics brought up in this comic that kids under the age of 13 may not understand or be able to handle.
  • Question
What about the prologue and the epilogues? Should I read them before or after reading the comic?
    Michael Parkey
    Community Answer
Definitely after, the events in the prologue and epilogue take place after Homestuck.
  • Question
Where's the best place to read it? I heard things were different on homestuck.com because of flash or something.
    Warren
    Top Answerer
The site works fine for most people, but if it doesn't for you, read it via one the unofficial collection archives.
  • Question
Why am I doing this to myself?
    Community Answer
Most likely because you are either sick or bored or both.
