QuestionWill dish soap damage my dishwasher?Community AnswerIn a round-about way, yes. Dish soap will cause an enormous suds/foam problem (from the machine's aggressive pump and sprayers), that will almost certainly overflow from the sump. Not only will this overflow create a huge mess all over the floor and likely water-damage the cabinets, it will also cause a rust/corrosion problem for the machine chassis. (Even "stainless steel" dishwashers have iron, steel, and aluminum chassis parts that will rust and corrode if they get wet.) Don't do it. (It's also a very difficult problem to clean up, as even the smallest amounts of dish soap residue in the machine's hard-to-reach or inaccessible internals will continue to foam.)

QuestionWhat do I do if I accidentally put a Tide laundry detergent pod in my dishwasher and there were suds everywhere?Community AnswerPut a little Downy fabric softener in the dishwasher and run it for a minute. The suds will be gone. You can even use a fabric softener sheet if you don't have a liquid softener.

QuestionWhat can I do if my soap dish won't open during the cycle?Raxader LoopCommunity AnswerJust pour/drop in some (dishwasher friendly) soap around the middle of the dishwasher itself (as in, on the bottom). This will take the place of the soap in the dish.

QuestionMy grandson put dish soap where the finishing rinse goes. How do I get it out?Community AnswerThe easiest way is to empty what you can first, then add plain water to the reservoir, and adjust the setting for it to the highest level for output. Most work when you open the door and close the door. Just open and close the door a few times. Then run the dishwasher normally until the water is gone. Or, if you must have the spot prevent in your machine, then just keep opening and closing door the little indicator for level will slowly go down. This could take up to 30 minutes.

QuestionMy Kenmore dishwasher leaked all over my kitchen floor and the inside is overflowing with suds. I only use Cascade dishwasher detergent. How do I fix this problem?Community AnswerYou may have used a hand washing dish soap (as opposed to dishwasher detergent) by mistake. Add a little bit of liquid fabric softener, run the dishwasher for a few seconds, then choose the drain cycle.

QuestionHow do I remove hardened dishwasher detergent from the compartment it goes into? The door to it will not latch.Community AnswerChip it off with a plastic knife or spoon. You can stuff some paper towel over it, then wet it with hot water. Let it soak to soften the caked-on powder. After getting rid of most of it, rinse with hot water until it's all gone. You might also try running the dishwasher with no detergent, and the dry cycle turned off.

QuestionHow can I get rid of the bubbles?Community AnswerPour vinegar and salt around the bottom, together or separately, then run the dishwasher for about a minute. If none of this works, try pouring one capful of liquid fabric softener around the bottom and running it for a minute again.

QuestionI put liquid dish soap in the jet-dry dispenser by mistake. There is no way to get it out. I already had Cascade powder in the other dispenser. What's my best option?Community AnswerI used an air compressor with a blow gun, shop vac, and a syringe. Turn down the air compressor to a low setting. Turn on the shop vac and direct the nozzle at the jet-dry dispenser. Then blow air into the jet-dry dispenser with the air gun. This will cause the soap to spray out, and it will get caught by the shop vac. When it is empty, squirt water in the dispenser with the syringe. Repeat this process until all the soap is out of the dispenser. After that is all done, run your dishwasher on the rinse cycle, or full cycle, a few times using vinegar and salt. Follow that up by running a cycle or two with olive oil. You will be good go.

QuestionWhat do I do if I put dish soap in my dishwasher and it won't drain? Will it fix itself after awhile?Community AnswerIt should, just remove everything from it and locate the bottom sump - give it time it should drain and don't use until it drains fully. At worst, you may need to call a technician.
