What should I do if I stripped the threads on the blade spindle?

On the old spindle it won't matter. On the new spindle, there are a couple of options. If the damage is slight, you may be able to 'chase' the threads with a screw driver to even them out. Another option is to use the nut for the spindle. With time and patience you can work the nut back and forth to repair the threads. Your best possible option is to use a tap and die set to re-thread the shaft. These can be purchased from most hardware stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, Menard's, Harbor Freight). They can also be rented at some auto parts stores (Autozone, O'Reilly's, Napa). If none of these work, you may have damaged the threads so much that you will need another spindle.
