  • Question
I am using a headset, but it doesn't work. What do I do?
    Community Answer
Make sure you are plugging the microphone jacks in the correct spots (headset on the green spot, microphone on the pink spot). Adjust the properties in the volume settings, and choose the headset hardware you are using. Test the sound level, and subtract the bass boost level if needed.
  • Question
What if the speaker icon does not show up?
    Community Answer
It might show up as an exclamation point in the bottom right corner, above your ammo. If not, check your streaming audio settings.
  • Question
What if the speaker icon shows up immediately and doesn't go away?
    Top Answerer
Try pressing the V key or whatever your voice chat bind is. The key could have stuck down, or stuck far enough down that it looks fine to you, but the computer is receiving input. Press down the key for a few seconds, then release it and see if that removes the speaker icon.
  • Question
What could be wrong if my keybind for voice chat is "T" and I have followed the instructions and I still can't voice chat in Team Fortress 2?
    Community Answer
Since the default keybind for voice chat is "V" in TF2, just hit "T" instead of "V".
  • Question
What should I do if I have a new microphone, testing says it works, but it won't work for voice chat in Team Fortress 2? It uses a USB slot because my computer has no jack.
    Community Answer
It is likely that that will require an adapter, making your USB into a headphone jack. By searching up "USB to audio jack," you will find a few good ones.
  • Question
    What can I do if I'm wearing a mic-less headset and I don't have a microphone?
    Community Answer
Get a microphone. You can't use voice chat without one. Preferably, a cheap but not really bad one - it should be on a point where it is cheap enough to not hurt your wallet too much, but with a good enough quality that others can understand you.
