  • Question
Is the wearing the niqab/hijab that necessary?
    Community Answer
It is something Allah (god) commanded from women. It depends on you if you will follow the command. The purpose is that you hide your beauty from the gaze of men. if you want to wear it, make sure that you are not doing this because someone wants you to, but because you are trying to please Allah -- not anyone else. If you do wear it ,start with a more modest wardrobe (if it isn't already), then hijab, and then niqab if you want to go the extra mile.

  • Question
I love Islamic clothing. I started wearing a hijab when I was 6. Now I am 12 and I want to wear a niqab, but my parents don't approve. What can I do?
    Eleanor Liu
    Community Answer
You should wear the niqab. Even thought your parents don't approve, they can't control you and it's your choice. Remember, Allah (swt) is always there for you and He will guide you. I wear the niqab. At first, my parents disagreed. But despite that, I suddenly came back home from school one day wearing one and they said nothing and didn't stop me. Now, my parents are proud of me. If you can't buy a niqab (if your parents disapprove), you can "make" one. You need 2 headscarves only. Just tie a scarf on your face below your eyes and then wear a hijab over it.

Doing so is discouraged by many Muslims. Veiling - whether with a hijab, niqab, or any other type of covering - is considered an act of worship, and the niqab should not be used as a fashion accessory or to make a point. If you want to support Muslims by wearing the niqab, many Muslims recommend educating others about Islam and why Muslims veil instead.
  • Question
If I wear a hijab in a non-Muslim school, will I be bullied?

It depends on where you live. If someone does bully you, tell a teacher right away. Most schools have a zero tolerance policy for this sort of thing.

It is your duty as a parent to encourage your daughter to dress modestly, but ideally it should be done with gentleness and kindness. In the case of niqab it depends on which of the schools of thought that your family follows. For example in the Hanafi school it is considered necessary to cover the face, but in most other schools it is recommended but not mandatory.

Do I have to wear gloves?
    Rosebuds
    Community Answer
That depends on your beliefs. I personally think it’s fine to show your hands because they aren’t pretty to the point that it attracts mean to you. Though, I think you cannot wear nail polish or Henna because it makes them look prettier. Even if you think it’s not obligatory, God will still reward you for covering them.
