When whipstitching, push your needle into the top and pull it out from the top, evenly spacing your stitches approximately 1/2" apart.

In the crocheting section, why do your pictures show knitted fabric?

    Community Answer
The person who wrote the article is using a "generic" drawing, which I've seen in many, many books. It is a drawing intended to represent both knit and crochet. Just for basic info, this "knitted" look can be achieved using a crochet hook and the slip stitch.
  • Question
Won't tying a knot in the thread on the needle cause it to get stuck? What about pushing he needle with my finger? It's far safer to pull it and not push, right?
    Community Answer
You tie the knot onto the end of the thread, not at the eye of the needle. When you push the needle through the fabric you hide the knot, either behind the fabric, or between the layers if you are quilting or embroidering. You can push or pull the needle. If you push the needle, it is advisable to wear a thimble. This protects your finger from being pierced.
