QuestionIf I have obtained the national dex in Platinum, do I have to get in Ruby also to trade?Community AnswerNo, but the Pokemon cannot go from Platinum to Emerald. You can migrate your Pokemon to Platinum, though.
Tips
- You can't trade between Fire Red/Leaf Green and Ruby/Emerald/Sapphire until you have obtained the National Dex in the former. In the latter, the PokeDex upgrades to the National Dex once you have traded with Fire Red/Leaf Green. Thanks
- Certain Pokémon only evolve when traded. Thanks
- Pokémon that have been traded from another game gain 1.5x the amount of EXP than regular non-traded Pokémon. If you trade back, they will gain the regular amount (Pokémon traded from a game in a different language gain 1.7x).Thanks
Tips from our Readers
- Some Pokémon may need to hold an item while trading to evolve. For example, an Onix holding a metal cote will evolve into Steelix while trading.
Warnings
- Some Pokémon may not obey until you have a certain number of badges. Thanks
