Open Chrome. The GroupMe Android app does not provide a way to disable SMS messages, so you'll need to use a web browser. Chrome is the app with a round red, green, blue, and yellow icon, typically found on the home screen.

Scroll down and tap Request desktop site . A check mark will appear in the box beside this option.

Tap Log in . It's at the top-right corner of the page.

Enter your login information and tap Log in . If your account is connected to your Facebook or Microsoft login, tap one of those options instead.

Tap the settings icon. It's the blue gear at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Slide the “Receive Messages via SMS” switch to the position. As long as this switch is off, GroupMe will not send you text messages for activity.
