Subject: Valentine’s Day
Dear Sarah,
I really wish you could be here on Valentine's Day. It just isn't the same without you, and I'm sure you miss being here just as much. So, to make us both feel better, I thought I would try to make it feel as if we were together. Here we go. Sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And let me paint a picture for you:
There's us, just hanging out together at home. We're snuggled up together on the couch, maybe even in our jammies. The lights are low, and the fireplace is ablaze. Our favorite music is playing. Or it's you strumming away on the guitar. It's just the two of us. Finally alone together. I've made your favorite: strawberries covered in dark chocolate. We curl up with those and a sparkling glass of champagne. We're reminiscing about all of our years together, talking about our favorite memories and all the things we've seen and done together. And we're dreaming about the future, thinking about the places we'll go and all of the other wonderful things we'll experience together. We talk late into the night until we fall asleep in each other's arms and wake up to a new day, to find each other still there. This scenario is what I'm imagining tonight. And I thought that maybe, if you did too, then it would be as if there were no distance between us. We could pretend it was just you and me close beside each other, enjoying the only thing in the world that really matters: our love.
I love you. I can't wait to have you home and make this dream a reality. Until then, I guess we'll just have to keep dreaming. I hope you have a very happy Valentine's Day.
Missing you,
Kyle
