Later today, wikiHow engineer @Jordansmall will release a slight change to the user pages to solve a confusing issue for new editors. Before this change, when you cruising around the wiki and click a username such as User:Progressive you end up on a page that says “Jordan” without any mention of “Progressive”. You wonder if you are on the right place. And you can never remember who is whom around this wiki. Starting today, the user page will display both your real name and your user name. That way it will be easier to figure out that Jordan is the same guy as User:Progressive. Here is what the new version will look like:

Hopefully this will create less name confusion around the wiki. What do you think, does this make things more clear?

Mine doesn’t. But I have no real name. Poor me. I suppose it is the dash in your username causing it…?

If your username and real name are the same you can remove your real name in your preferences so it just has the one name there.

Works. It’s nice when you have one name and preferred to be called another (like Progressive/Jordan). I can see this option be handy for a lot of people.

I like this. I agree that it’ll be good for helping reduce confusion, especially for newer contributors who might confuse the username/realname.

I like this. I was going to ask to change my user name to eliminate all confusion… but this works!

Yep! I like it, although it doesn’t do that much for me (even though Isabelle Zita isn’t my name, I don’t go by anything else- well, other than “Rat”, but that’s informal)… Either way, awesome!:slight_smile:

LOL! Unless you’re a use who started out with a username that you wished to leave behind… and you left it behind by changing your display name! Not me… but… I can think of a few.

You know you can change your username on wikiHow. Ask Krystle. ^^ I like this idea to, a lot of editors get confused. I know I did.:slight_smile:
