wikiHow encourages each user to make their userpage their own, to reflect their personalities and to show off their design skills. I know lots of people who have great userpages, and I’m not targeting anyone in specific. Your talkpage, however, is the place where other users of the site contact you. You don’t want to drive away people from posting on your talkpage because you have dark green text on a pink background with a million .gifs all over the place. That said, I prefer the default wikiHow talkpage, but if you’d like to spice up yours, here are a few tips: *Consider a light pastel background as opposed to an eye-attacking “Tickle Me Pink.” Google “Hex Codes” and you’ll be able to see a million colors to choose from. *Your text can be either a serif or sans-serif font, but Comic Sans MS sucks, and everyone should know that. I prefer the font “Leelawadee” but don’t stray too far from Arial or Times New Roman. Preferably black or a very, very dark color. *If you’re using a color different than the default background color of the site, consider a dark border color. People shouldn’t have to avert their eyes when they’re posting on your talkpage! Again, I’m not targeting anyone in specific, just a point i’m trying to make.

Thank you for posting this. I was afraid too as I thought it was just my old eyes having a hard time adjusting to the extreme color contrasts. I personally like the Schoolbook font as it is a wide spaced and rounded font which makes it easy to read. I also like Arial and Times. Tahoma and Georgia are both good font choices too. Anything that as a wide and rounded font looks very nice. It’s also clear to read. As to colors: I like a plain white background with dark lettering. Blue or black look good. A border around a white background with a black font is very nice too. Thanks Rangers for bringing this up. I sure do appreciate it. MA

Thanks! I didn’t even realize what I was doing. But, of course, I’m in love with bright colors:stuck_out_tongue:

It’s been noted many, many times in the past … thanks Rangers for reminding the community again:wink:

Yep, thanks for this! Actually, I think my talkpage is fairly nice off as far as the font and color scheme, but I’ve seen users who’s talkpages almost burn your eyes off, so thanks for this reminder!

If you need more ideas for colors: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Colors Also, agree with above, so thanks Rangers!

It’s not just your eyes, hurts my eyes too and I’m a young’un! These fonts are also really cool, thanks for sharing!

Totally, totally agree.
