Is the site not behaving how it’s supposed to? Post here!

Please follow this process:

  1. Check to see if there are any other threads about your issue before you post! It’s best to just have one thread about each bug.
  2. If there is no thread on the topic, create a new thread with the specific issue in the subject.
  3. In the post, share as much information as you can. Include what device you are on, the browser you are using, and add a screenshot if possible.
  4. Think about the urgency of this bug - does it affect the functionality of wikiHow? If not, consider adding “Low Priority” in the subject or post:slight_smile:

I know I should not be posting on this thread, but I am seeing a trend with low-quality bug reports that are difficult to see. I know sometimes we are in a hurry to post a bug report, but when bug reports are missing information, it makes it difficult for both community members attempting to replicate the bug and staff members attempting to fix the bug.

I found these guidelines on MediaWiki’s website when filing bug reports. In a nutshell:

  1. Check for duplicate bugs in the forums and give your input if you are experiencing the same problem.
  2. Give the steps that you are taking.
  3. Describe the expected result. You could make a mockup as well.
  4. Show the actual result. Explain what is broken.
  5. Include browser and device information. Your current browser can be found at http://whatsmybrowser.com/ . Your current device information can be found by running the command winver on Windows or by going to “About this Mac” on the Apple Menu or by going to “Settings” > “About this device” on Android or by going to “Settings” > “General” > “About” on iOS. It is also possible a browser extension you are using is broken.
  6. Include where the problem is happening. Is it happening on only a specific page or is it happening on the entire site?
  7. Check the developer console for any errors and paste them with the report.

After, staff will triage the bug priority depending on the scope of the bug. They may also be closed and declined or die out because the bug report is missing information.

Note that they are just guidelines not policy, but the more information you provide, the more likely other community members are able to replicate the issue, and the more likely staff are able to patch it.

P.S. staff and admins are free to edit this information or split it into a subthread as needbe.

Hello I am new here, I am confused about why my article is not posting. Could someone get back to me as soon as possible? My Messages are open.
