I’ve made my 1,119 edit today, I’ve started 34sh articles, one of which is a rising star, patrolled 2k edits and 14 thumbs ups. I am a member of the copyedit team also. Do you think I’m good enough?
Well, since I’m not an Admin, I can’t offer much; but I do know it’d help a lot if you were a booster…
Well, I don’t know if you’re “goos” enough for an admin, but you do qualify (you might want to change the title if this post).

Grahamster: As a newly minted admin, I can tell you that a lot goes into a decision to make someone an admin. WikiRicardo is good to point out that your discussion title doesn’t help your cause. Not sure if it hurts, but definitely doesn’t help. I’ve looked through your contributions and on the surface, things look good. However, good edits don’t make a good admin. A good administrator is someone who looks at the wikiHow project as a whole and embraces the principles that they espouse. A good step that you have taken is that you’re active in the NFD discussions. This is lacking and needs more regular users to take part. Unfortunately, usually admins only discuss these things which make the discussions one-sided (from a policy stand point). You also do a lot of patrolling, which is something that has been a problem the past couple of weeks. But like all of us, there are places for improvement. For example, there are a couple of discussions that you had where you didn’t take the right approach. Always assume good faith and don’t get roped in to flame wars. One thing I would encourage you to do is do more bold edits. For me, this is a clearer indication of someone who wants to improve wikiHow. But again, each administrator has their own standards. Overall, you are on your way. If you feel you are ready, feel free to nominate yourself when time comes around. But remember three things: 1) Most users don’t get adminship the first time around. It took me two tries. 2) Admins only get three extra tools: move, delete, block. Most things admins do normal users can do. Remember, be bold! Anything you do can be undone and admins will always assume good faith. 3) Adminship is not a trophy or prize. Being an admin doesn’t mean that your voice gets more weight. It just means that you’re committed to the project.
*WARNING: This advice is from a non-admin, new user. Take this as if it is from the village idiot, because it literally is.* I was going to say definitely yes, but your use of goos makes me say probably yes. You have logged over a thousand contributions, and you have been here for a long time. But the position is quite discriminating, and some people can easily make it, while others will probably never make it. (Due to my *interesting* debates with other users and my dislike of the “assume good faith” policy, I would have too much baggage, even once I am past 1000 contributions.) Also, I am not sure if it is more about how many articles you have started, but if you got rising stars. I am careful to make sure that I can get either a rising star or a thumbs up for every article that I write, and this does pay off (Sometimes, I do not get it, but this is just fine). So yes, you probably should run, but please ask an “admin” to change this title, for your sake!
Keep in mind that some of the most important traits to bring to being an effective admin are tact, maturity, kindness, good faith, and not being quick to assume the worst in various situations (partly quoting @Flickety
here, from a thread in the old forums ). While contribution records do count, evaluating a prospective candidate’s interaction around the site, handling of problems that arise, etc. is also very important.
can you do that? and, wouldn’t the title here pretty much pre-exclude you? ( : )
well, awesome! Personally, I only have 5 more things to overcome…

You can change the title of the post by clicking the edit link on the start of the thread. Admins can change this even if they aren’t the OP, but I’ll leave it.
Heh. Goos. Guys, this was an honest mistake (we all make 'em) and let’s not hold that against his adminship! @Grahamster
- I don’t really know you all that well (‘cept for me giving you a thumbs-up), but by your stats, I’d say to grow a lil’ bit before running. Not to say you don’t have a CHANCE, but you might want to get around the site, interacting with people a little more. I certainly don’t plan on running soon (or ever) until I’m a Booster (not required, but hey, why not, right?), and maybe you should get that experience under your belt (if you’re wearing one :P) too. And the traits? Well put: tact, maturity, kindness, good faith, and not being quick to assume the worst in various situations. Look for those. (I still need tact and maturity fo sho!) Hope this helps. And if you do run, good luck!
Well, that’s for you to figure out. Do you think you’re ready to be an admin. If the answer is yes, then you probably are. If you say no, think about why. Being an admin is not a prize and it can be difficult. Please note this is not coming from an admin.
