Discussing in IRC we figured with all of the posts about user pages and talk pages it might be good to provide some tips on how to keep your designs tasteful. Proper design should reduce the amount of opposition to design in general as the common complaints are that the designs are difficult to read, immature, or let’s be honest ugly. You can find the article here: http://www.wikihow.com/Design-a-Tasteful-User-Page (with thanks to Lewis and Chris for helping to clean it up a bit). If you have questions please ask and feel free to add to article as you see fit.

I endorse everything in this article.

The discussion is about talk pages and not about user pages!

It includes both, believe me.

Omg!

Don’t get all worked up about this now. This is a separate discussion about an article with guidelines (read: NOT RULES) on creating a tasteful and good-looking userpage. I suggest perusing the article for tips.

This is awesome. I’m so glad it includes visual examples!

Nice article. I added a link to it here and here , to help those who might not otherwise come across the page.

Nicely done! Thanks for adding this! The examples given are excellent as well.

Awesome job to all! =) June Days
