A user sent me an email saying that he had lost his article after being told that he had nothing in the intro. His name is: http://www.wikihow.com/User:Drkenrich

Huh. Did he say it came up as an information box or that a user told him it would be deleted? I’ll try publishing a few articles without intros as I make them and see if anything happens. Weird, anyhow.

I always have it tell me that I haven’t added an intro, but sometimes, when you go back to put it in, the article disappears.

I just recently had that problem, after editing for about 45 minutes; and some other weirdness is going on–before editing, this article appeared fine; after editing, and a refresh, I get this: no “How to,” a truncated intro, etc. More flash/shockwave pain?

But no; I cannot see my entire intro in any version, except by going to history, ‘diff,’ where it is all still there–a reader just can’t read it…?

ok, and actually, almost the whole article is absent, until you go into ‘history?’

This isn’t a glitch nor bug of any kind. All articles that do not have the proper == Steps == section header will not produce the “How to” beginning in the title.

I didn’t know that!

Since I’m the one with the original problem, is there some set of instructions that can be referenced? As far as I can see, I did the same thing I’ve done before on articles by starting with the home page and following the links to propose a title then go onto to filling in all the parts before I hit submit. What ==Steps== did I miss?

interestinggggg…but it had “How to” in front of it for like a year? And I’m pretty sure I wrote that in ‘Guided-’ but I might be wrong there.

That’s weird! Sometimes even after I save drafts of articles I make, I lose them and I have to start all over again!

Did you click the “Advanced Editor” when you edited your article? If you did, there was no “==Steps==” part, and that’s why your article got deleted. June Days

The thread got hijacked, as this is two separate issues. Articles won’t be deleted if there’s no == Steps == section header - that issue is why people can’t see the proper “How to” in the actual title. The original issue isn’t this and still unsolved.

Ok. I just got about an hour’s editing in here http://www.wikihow.com/Recognize-the-Fallacy-of-Death-Centric-Western-Christian-Models in an attempt to publish the entire article, and not just have it readable in ‘history.’ I am not meaning to hijack here; I am perfectly capable of starting my own thread–I post here, because they are the same problem. The only diff is that the orig poster had no ‘previous’ in history to fall back on. When I clicked ‘Preview,’ the intro disappeared in the intro editing window, and was truncated in the reading review panel; I found the rest of the intro, and the real step 1 and a couple of the first other steps, in ‘Sources and citations’ in the reading review panel. I have not been able to read this article from any xp pc for a while now. Hitting ‘Pub,’ and then hitting ‘edit’ again forces me into the ‘advanced’ window, from which there is no returning to ‘guided.’ However, somehow, in all this futzing around, the article spontaneously recovered itself (lol). I did have it open in 2 tabs, which may have forced something? I got a screenshot…well, sorry, I thought I had captured one, it is gone; but I can reproduce it if anyone cares. It will show no code in the guided editing intro window, and no code in the steps window, and code from the tips window on down. I’m suspecting adobe, myself. Let me know, ty.

ok, and after a brief moment of being able to read the entire article, it is–for me, at least–now mostly back down in ‘sources.’ == Steps == is present in even the ‘advanced’ window–I’m pretty sure, hang on…yup, and so I’m not sure what Mal is saying, although it wouldn’t surprise me if she was seeing something completely diff from what I am. If I can help, holla.

additionally, in reading the rest of the intro, etc., in ‘sources,’ I am now reading html code.

You didn’t miss any steps, or == steps ==. Are you running xp? And, what browswer? Ty

sorry about the sizing…this is a screenshot of…well, the == steps == thing.

^, ty.
