I am pleased to announce that the Answer Requests Contest is now underway! This will be the official forum thread where all of the submissions and responses will take place.

The goal of this contest is to write articles to answer requests . If you would like to participate, please read the contest page for the full instructions and for the rules. This contest will run from March 21st to April 21st.

When participating in the contest, please keep the following in mind:

Remember to search for duplicates before you start writing the article. To search for duplicates, go to Special:Search and search for the article title. You should also search for anything that is similar to what the articles title is. For example, if you are going to write, “How to Watch TV”, then it would be a good idea to search for, “How to Watch Television”, since those mean the same thing, but it might not pop up in a search result for “TV”.

Also, wikiHow is a wiki, and the articles are edited by many people. If your article does not get fully promoted, it will still help the next user who comes around to improve the article, and the next, and so on. Eventually, the article will be promoted, and when it is, you will share in the responsibility for getting it promoted. So with that in mind, please only focus doing the best that you can an article. If you believe that your article is ready for promotion, you can request a review from the Article Review Team , but don’t stress if your article doesn’t get fully promoted, that’s not the goal of the contest. The goal is to answer a readers request by putting in your best effort to write an article. You will still be able to participate if your article is not fully promoted. Please remember to keep this in mind when participating.

I hope that everyone has fun in this contest, and if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Also, keep in mind that this contest will end on April 21st, so make sure to get your submissions in by then.

Awesome. Also, question, would an article I started on March 17 count if it still has an {{Inuse}} tag on it, or do you have to start the article between March 21 and April 21?

Sure, you can submit that article.

Okay, great.

How do I join?

You can join by answering a request by using the Answer Requests tool , then check for duplicates , and then submit the article here by including a link. When you submit the article, include what you have learned, and why you are proud of your article. You can visit the contest page for more information. You can also ask me if you still have any questions.

For my submission, I started How to Find Out when Windows Was Installed . A reader had requested this article, and after a duplicate check, I wrote it.

When I wrote the article, I found out how simple it was to actually figure out when Windows was installed. I thought that you would have to go through the registry to find out, but it is much simpler than that.

Question. Would it could if it wasn’t using the “Answer requests” tool but instead someone asked you if you could make an article about something?

That’s fine. It’s still a request, so it does fit the contest.

Okay then. Then here is the article:

How to Get All the K.K. Slider Songs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (wikihow.com)

I didn’t do much research, because I got this from figuring it out myself, but I did learn about the {{screenshots}} tag.

The article I started, “How to Use USF Libraries Oral History Kits”, was a request under Education and Communications. The first thing I learned was what USF stood for (University of Southern Florida). I also learned how to use oral history for research and to enhance social studies classes.

I seem to have forgotten how to make a link in forums. How do I make the title into a link?

I’m assuming you’re talking about hyperlinks, in which case you can either do it manually…

  • Format: [Insert displayed text here](Insert_link_here)

… or you can tap the button on the toolbar that resembles a chain.

Question: Would it count if you answered a request but are planning on changing the title? It’s still about the same thing, but…

This one wasn’t officially in the requested topics, but a user left a request on my talk page, so I thought I’d share it - How to Identify an Aussiedoodle . This was my first attempt at a designer dog article, and I’d say it turned out well! It was a bit more difficult to find sources, but I quite enjoyed the challenge.

Yes, that would still count.

Okay then, that means I’ve got two.

The first one is this one: 10 Ways to Be a Pro at Animal Crossing: New Horizons - wikiHow . Like with many of the other Animal Crossing articles, I learned from personal experience / playing excessive amounts of animal crossing at night, but I did put a {{title}} template on the other article for the first time.

The second one I have is this one: How to Help Jingle in Animal Crossing New Horizions: 7 Steps (wikihow.com) . Something I learned when writing the article is that Sherb with a Santa hat is adorable. (I found a pic of him when making sure that all of my info was accurate.)

I’m a little late, but this contest has ended! I’ll move the submissions to the Hall of Fame soon.
