There is a bug when you create a new article. When you start a new article, the default format is Guided Editing. Pretend you write 2 steps in Guided Editing then switch to Advanced Editing. All the text and content you wrote will be deleted when you switch. Please fix this!

Could this issue be skirted by a pop-up warning?

Hiya, thanks for taking the time to write this note. The team is aware of this issue, and of Alabaster’s great suggestion of a pop-up, so I’m hopeful they will have some time to implement something soon!

Thanks

For now, the team have taken off the button to switch from one to the other in the Article Creator.

There are a couple of options if you’d like to use the advanced editor:

  1. You can start with the guided editor, then simply publish, and then click to edit it. I’d recommend you add an {{inuse}} tag if you don’t want it to go through to review straight away.

  2. When you want to create an article, you can go to wikihow.com/Title-of-my-Article (where “Title-of-my-Article” is the title you want the article to have). This will bring you to a page that says “Oops! The page you requested doesn’t seem to exist.” You can simply click “edit” on that page to create the new article!
