Hey! Going through RC Patrol, you can see a lot of different users putting different bad words on articles, but there is only one word there. For example, User1 edits an article Stag Leap and puts at the end of step 2 “!*#%” or whatever. Is there a template that can explain that this is not allowed, or should we just tell them normally or use a warning template? Using a warning template seems like going too far, but just retyping the same thing after about ten patrols seems irritating. Thanks!

You don’t always have to use the warning template. The best thing to do is to check their contributions. If they have made a whole lot of vandalism edits or bad faith edits, you should post a warning on their talk page. If not, you can use the {{test}} template to coach them.

^ Thanks Hailey, but there’s another problem. Wouldn’t you just put an extra period to test something or whatever? I kinda think putting a bad word is going a bit too far.

No, since sometimes, putting a bad word is still a user trying to test it out. Sometimes vandals actually listen - today, I sent a warning to an anonymous user who did bad edits, and they replied apologizing. It can still work.

True.
