I am using AWB to fix typos (you can see my contribution history) and I notice it is suggesting changing apostrophes from  to ' .  Is this change acceptable or will it burden RC patrollers?

Hi Aasim, Thanks for bringing this up. I didn’t know about AWB. Right now the edits to be patrolled number is close to 100. Regardless, good edits are good. And I’ve read in many testimonials on wikiHow that every edit counts and no edit is too small. Having said that, my idea is when you are cleaning an ocean filled with plastic, you might want to focus on problem areas to cleanup a lot if pending mess in terms of coding etc and then getting on to embellishments; and using your strengths (in your case your vast wealth of knowledge and skill) to make changes that help in an equally major way. Changing from ’ to ` or - to – may not change reader experience or affect display as such.

When using AWB, I leave in cosmetic fixes only if I also fix something more substantial such as spelling, especially when RCP is already high.

I gotta agree with the above comments from Zodi and Vy. I’m all for small edits but when it’s just a tiny cosmetic issue where no one would notice I say just leave it unless your editing other stuff. Especially with AWB where you could flood RCP with it.

@Awesome-Aasim It’s great that you asked about this before going ahead. It sounds like the consensus is that your strengths and time could be used in much more productive and impactful ways than changing apostrophes or making minor cosmetic tweaks with AWB :)
