Hey guys I’m preparing to become a booster. If you don’t pass Parts 2 and 3 of the Boost test, do you fail the test?

If you don’t pass Part 2, you don’t do Part 3.

As I said before on your talk page, you may want to wait a bit a while to study the policies , sharpen your copyediting skills , etc… The first part of the test has to do with the Merge Policy / Title Policy - Which should be your first goal. And then, the Deletion Policy (Which is what everyone should know, in order to apply {{nfd}} templates. As an Admin, to delete pages, and as an NAB, to apply tags during New Article Boost). As said on how to become an NAB on wikiHow, you’ll need to know about the External Links policy, and how to Handle Recipes on wikiHow. You’ll also need to be good at coaching editors, andknow the policies so you give them correct directions if they ask you a question. As said on the article that tells how to become an NAB , the Merge Policy, Title Policy, External Links Policy and Handle Recipes are the policies/articles you should study for the first part of the test. But, you should know all of the things listed above (do some exploring on other policies too, as they may help you if an editor ever asks you a question; which is what usually happens if you get welcome bot privileges). It is a lot of work to become an NAB (or an admin), and you’ll need to know a lot - But I’m confident you can do it. Good luck. (; June Days EDIT: No, you do not fail the test. You always have the chance of trying again. (=

To echo on what June Days said, if you don’t pass any of the parts, that generally means you’ll need to study the policies more and sharpen your skills. I took the test and passed, so I can tell you about the 3 parts and what you need to study: Part 1: Merge Policy (looking at two titles and seeing if they’re distinguishable) Part 2: Ten editing questions on various topics, including the Title Policy Part 3: Provide five diff pages of actual editing on a new page or stub. This requires copyediting ( http://wikihow.com/Copyedit-a-wikiHow-Article ) and formatting ( http://wikihow.com/Format-a-wikiHow-Article ) skills. There’s no time limit, so you can also have the policy page open in another tab and refer to it throughout the test.

And, to echo what Illneedasaviour said, if you fail one of the parts of the test, you’ll have to wait a while before taking it again. Part 1: 2 weeks Part 2: Pretty sure you can ask for new questions from Krystle, but, it’s been a while so not certain… Part 3: 3 months June Days BTW, me and Krystle think it’d be best if you just waited two weeks. (;

Yeah, take your time with it! I’m currently on Part 3 and believe me, it’s tough. I’ve been on it for 3 weeks and poor Krystle must be wondering whether I’ve given up on it lol Just take your time, though. Be sure to have multiple tabs open to be ‘cheat sheets’ more or less.

@JuneDays Does that mean if we fail in the part 3 , we have to wait for whole 3 months?

Yes. June Days

Part 1 is hard for ME.

I tried it in my old account, but I kept failing. Reading the Merge Policy is not enough - I still can’t understand. =(

@Adelaide1230 Though I haven’t taken the NAB test, I could just give you a bit of advice. It’s not always necessary that whenever you see a dup, add nfd or merge. try to develop it. Read the policy again as they have explained very well with examples. NOTE: If i’m wrong, please correct me.

@Adelaide1230 , Forgot to say something. I think (i’m pretty sure) you don’t become a nab in a day or so. You must have a lot of patience while taking the test as well as after that. I hope that you clear the round, but there’s no guarentee. I could just wish you some luck! Don’t take this in a bad manner, but i saw in the forums and at many places you have mentioned that you are soon going to be a NAB and then correct the article and so and so… Wait until you become a NAB…No offence…

I’d take the advice given above. You really should wait (your account has only been here 3 weeks, BTW) - It’s better to take things slow and steady, than to rush into things you’re not totally sure you can get. Check the other thread you posted; I answered a question there. (;

If you see an NFDed “dup” (duplicate article), it is probably already NFDed. If you see an article you think may be a duplicate, search wikiHow. If there is (here, you should know the policies), apply an NFD tag. (; Reading the policies over and over again helps. I have them bookmarked; even I need a refresher every once and a while. =P Also, if you took the NAB test on your other account, then NAB status would be on *that* account; not this one. (; June Days

Here’s what I can do: I can try to become a good editor *without* becoming a Booster, keep my mind off becoming one, do what Teresa said (keep cleaning articles), and keep reading the policies over and over again. I might become an admin or a valued community member. :3

You are a valued community member. Being an NAB or admin takes time. Also, if you try to be an admin, that will be a LOT more work than becoming an NAB. If you ever want to be one, read Become an Admin on wikiHow , and wait a few more months - It took me a little more than a year; others about 4 months. It really varies on who you are; everyone is different. Just keep working at it, and I’m sure you can get it. Would you like this thread closed? June Days
