Hello everyone, I am pleased to announce that the Bold Edit Contest is now underway! This will be the official forum thread where all of the submissions and responses will take place.
The goal of this contest is to improve the quality of articles in quality review. If you would like to participate, please read the contest page
for the full instructions and for the rules.
When participating in the contest, please keep the following in mind:
wikiHow is a wiki, and the articles are edited by many people. If your bold edit does not get an article fully promoted, it will still help the next user who comes around to improve the article, and the next, and so on. Eventually, the article will be promoted, and when it is, you will share in the responsibility for getting it promoted. So with that in mind, please only focus improving an article. If you believe that it is improved enough to be fully promoted, request a review from the Article Review Team
, but don’t stress if an article doesn’t get fully promoted, that’s not the goal of the contest. The goal is to simply improve an article. You will still be able to fully participate if an article is not fully promoted. Please remember to keep this in mind when participating.
I hope that everyone has fun in this contest, and if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.
I’m excited to see what topics people choose to work on! Thanks again to @R2_d2000
for all of the organization and setup required to make this happen :)
Quick question - if I expand an article enough to where it meets the standards to be promoted, is it alright for me to promote it myself, or should I get a second opinion?
@HelperOnWikihow
, You can promote your own articles if you think they have been improved enough. It’s normally okay for Boosters to promote their own articles, so it’s okay for this contest as well.
I’ve already added the discussion page template, but I finished the bold edit - https://www.wikihow.com/Identify-a-Shih-Tzu
I look forward to seeing other bold edits on here!

Wow @HelperOnWikihow
, your bold edit
looks really good! I liked the section about not confusing Shih Tzu’s with other dogs, since I’m sure that they can be easily confused, so I think that it will really help readers. Thank you!
Does anybody else want to share what they like about the bold edit?

Nice job Helpie!! That looks amazing; it’s like twice the size of the original!
I’ve done a few not-so-bold edits; I’m searching for that perfect article!

Being, ahem, older, and having recently started attending an exercise class, I thought I’d expand on this article: https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Into-Fitness-when-You’re-40

Nice work, @HumanBeing

The note isn’t on the discussion page yet, but I fixed https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Eevee-in-Pokémon-X-and-Y
. (The link isn’t pasting correctly, would anyone happen to know how to fix this)?

If you’d like, I wouldn’t mind adding the discussion page template for your edits; what did you learn when you improved the articles?

@HelperOnWikihow
I actually just added it! Thanks for the offer, though.
Hey everyone! I made a bold edit to an article under quality review that’s now published just a few days before this forum thread was created… does this still count?
@Human-Being
It looks like you didn’t add the template yet… anyway, here’s the question. What did you learn when expanding the article?
@WikiaWang
, sure, you can submit it here.
That’s awesome :D.
I probably won’t participate in this because I’ve lost a lot of my skills…
@Snowflakeiesta
Oh, yes, I saw your edit while patrolling! Awesome work; your expansion looks great! I can add a discussion page template to the article for you; what did you learn while improving the article?
