For the longest time there has been a bug around. If a user submits a request and it goes into the Answer Requests queue (after being accepted or edited), is written but then gets NFD’d and deleted - that same topic doesn’t go back into the Answer Requests queue to be re-written. There have been numerous ones over the last few days that Admins are saying can’t be found, yet I have them on a list of those requests I requested that had that happen that are still shown as being around.
Ever since I started requesting articles here - back in 2011 - it’s been buggy, but I never had enough of an understanding of the system to take it far enough to report it - my conclusion was always (it’ll go away on it’s own - as what I was told by several wikiHaus members and Admins) and never took it far enough to submit a bug report for this issue in this tool.
Wouldn’t it be better that - if an article is deleted, articles can be redone and if they came from the tool they head back there? But that’s not what was happening.
I would think it would be at least of medium priority since it goes back too far, but isn’t too high since there are far worse things that are broken that need fixing worse than this.

From what I’ve seen, if the page is deleted, the request goes back to Manage Suggested Topics. I’ve seen pages deleted for being incomplete and such to find the request back in that tool the next day. Not sure if this is what you meant, though.
Are you suggesting that the deleted titles go straight back to the Answer Requests queue? If so, I agree.

Although i think i need to clarify why this bug exists - explaining how I came to that conclusion - I’d need to write about another paragraph or two. You are on the right track however.

Here’s my logic. Try to follow along, as best as you can - there’s going to be a lot of URLs to track down.
Recently, I posted several links of article requests for deletion to the ANB - as I thought they were working links. They had good reason behind them. However, despite discussing the issues, I sometimes encountered Admins who just couldn’t find certain articles. Yes, sometimes it was because of a edited title that was never “fixed” in the tool when they went to try to find it to delete it…but there were several such as https://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Suggest-a-New-Professional-Sports-Team-for-a-Given-City&redlink=1
(deleted as “not” - even though it’s now rather impossible) and https://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Effectively-Convince-Your-Parents-to-Diaper-You-Again-if-You-Are-a-Young-School-Age-Child&redlink=1
(deleted as “jok”), https://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Play-WildTangent’s-Overball-Game&redlink=1
(author request, twice), and something I’ve even mystified about myself - https://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Play-Super-Granny-by-WildTangent&redlink=1
(having not seen it been deleted per the page) and even a few others - lost track of those others until I go through them myself later, that upon looking - found out they were NFD’d and deleted and apparently never went back into the tool…thereby they weren’t being seen. (I really would hate to go through the list of titles and see just what else isn’t appearing now - because of this issue.)
Because of this issue, no one ever really saw that these were out there. They just “up and vanished” never to be seen again. Now, the system was “seeing them”. I asked for several of them to be requested many moons ago - when I first started out here, and going into a 10-year refresh project of cleaning out in many areas so many “issues” online, I came upon making the attempt to ask to delete some of them.
I know both @eric
and @Tiagoroth
both were involved in seeing to them that some were deleted, but it was me who discovered the underlying issue behind the “missing” titles.
I asked @JayneG
a few weeks ago (and she can attest to that) to find all the titles that went into the tool, and she even went as far as to find out their status, and even those that have gone “AWOL” are still listed and haven’t been created as redirects - they are out there - someplace.

Oh, interesting… I think I see what you mean. Maybe this will somehow be looked into now?

Hmm. I wonder if it’s possible that it simply is that they were rejected when they went back into Manage Suggested Topics, so therefore were not put back into Answer Requests?
They would still show up in a list of topic suggestions, because they were, at one point, suggested. Just a thought?
They should…but that never happened. Not sure what is happening on the backend…but maybe that will “tell a tale that we can’t notice”. From what I’m seeing in Manage Suggested Topics, it seems like topics aren’t going back after being deleted - but then again, I wouldn’t know how to research where each topic was coming from - other than asking the requestor themselves. Logs are tricky to piece out and figure out what’s going on.

This is definitely unusual, because it seems that at least some
are going back into the tool - I’m sure you’ve seen some requested topics made and deleted numerous times, all saying “created from requested topics.” That’s where it’s a bit tricky - potentially some are working as expected, but then, as you say, some aren’t.
I will put this on my list to check in with others who might know more, and then determine whether it’s something to file for engineering to look into. Thanks for raising this, @EpcotMagic
.
