How long ago is too long ago to bump something?

Say the last post for a game forum was back in 2020, and its not locked, does that give you a reason to make a new version of it? Or a general chat thread’s last post was last year, does that mean you shouldn’t post in it?

As one of the forum mods, I tend to be chill and unbothered when people bump threads, especially in the General Chat or Forum Games sections. We don’t really have strict rules for bumping. For me I don’t find it a big deal if people bump old threads. I just encourage people to be reasonable and use common sense.

It’s generally OK to bump a forum game if you want to revive it. If you want to add a new post to an old discussion, try to make your comments valuable, meaningful, unique, and relevant to the topic, especially if you’re posting in one of the higher, more important sections like Village Pump. At the same time, be mindful of how old and how active the discussion is. If the activity in the thread has died down and the last post was quite a while ago, it’s probably not a good idea to bump it unless you have a new comment to spark back the conversation.

If you want to bump just to add a very basic comment like “Agreed” or “+1” or “LOL same” - please don’t, because realistically it doesn’t add anything valuable to the discussion:wink:

Ah okay thats awesome! Thank you for letting me know. I’ll be sure not to bump anything that’s over 4 to 5 years old cause that seems smart.
