What’s the difference between CoD Black Ops and Ghosts?

They are set in alternate universes. Black Ops was basically a giant “What if?” kind of game, taking place in the 60’s where you appropriately play as an operative working on top-secret black ops. In Call of Duty Ghosts, you’re playing as the son of a military commander who previously worked in a mercenary group called the “Ghosts”. It’s set in an alternate version of the future, where the world is trapped in a dystopia state.

Well, if you ever do, I would start with Black Ops II. It is my personal favorite, especially the multiplayer.
