I attempted to change my profile picture on separate occasions, both on a laptop and a desktop PC. It simply won’t let me submit any pictures I select (absolutely no pictures will work, and I’ve tried dozens). I seem to remember seeing a similar issue a few months back, so if I’m beating a dead horse, sorry 'bout that. Wow, I should have put this under Help Using wikiHow.

Changing my profile picture works for me. However, I had that same issue when I first registered. It wouldn’t accept a single image whatsoever. I kept getting something like “File not found”. Then, I got my username changed to remove an apostrophe, and I haven’t seen it again since then. This is a tricky bug, as it is known to happen to only a select amount of people. As far as I am concerned, the engineers haven’t been able to pin it down due to that.

What browser (+its version) and operating system (+its version) are you using? When trying to upload an image, are there any JavaScript errors in your browser’s console? (See this article for information on how to debug JavaScript) Can you record a video of yourself trying to upload a new avatar image and post it somewhere? (YouTube is a classic, but I’m sure there are other viable video sharing sites out there, too)

I’m currently using Internet Explorer 11 with a Microsoft Windows 8.1 OS. I’m afraid I can’t record a video. I’m using my dad’s laptop, and any unnecessary downloads (including recording or video editing software) is forbidden.

I use Google Chrome and am on Windows 7. You can also get any screenshots if that is your only alternative. You can do it either by using your Print Screen button and using Microsoft Paint to document it, or use Awesome Screenshot, which I think is better to use since it doesn’t involve doing too much work. Awesome Screenshot is a browser extension which I believe is only available on Google Chrome, but you can check if that is necessary. If installed on your browser, it shouldn’t install anything unnecessary to your dad’s desktop. I hope that helps.

Heya Geeky, This sounds like it might well be related to the open bug. I believe the problem comes down to the preview of the image. This workaround *might* help until it’s fixed: If you upload a new image, click submit, and see a wrong preview, just click “Crop and Save” anyway (even though it’s the wrong image in the preview). Then on your profile page, you’ll hopefully see your intended image, just with a weird cropping. At this point, if you click “edit” under your image again, you’ll hopefully see the right preview, and can adjust the cropping. The workaround worked for me, so hopefully it does for you, too - But this is definitely a weird bug that’s showing up only to some people and it seems in different ways, so apologies if it’s acting differently for different folks and that trick doesn’t work in your case. The bug report is filed so that hopefully it can all be cleared up in due course - it’s just definitely a weird one to hunt down, since it works on some accounts and not on others. Tricky! Let me know if it works for you!

Update: I chatted with Reuben about this and he’s aware of the more recent problem here; it looks like it’s not just the previous intermittent bug but something affecting all folks for now, so the workaround probably won’t work. He’s working on a fix for this broader issue, though, so hang in there, and I’ll keep you updated!

Facing somewhat similar issue. Need an urgent update:frowning:

@GeekySonic Reuben is still working on this and you might still see some errors or funkiness, but he’s had some success in getting it going again, so if you feel like it, now might be a good time to try again (note: you might still have to use the workaround I mentioned above). Let me know if it works and I can pass it on to him:slight_smile:

Success!

Haha! Nice new picture.

Thank you, good sir!
