I suggest that in certain light articles they might be appropriate but in others they aren’t. However serious, accurate, educational an article is those images make it cartoonish and infantile.
How about giving us more access to pictures so we can decide for ourselves?
You already have the choice to put your own pictures in. If you see a problem with an image, you can report it to Anna or Krystle and they’ll check it out.
To add to Daniel’s comment: If there are Wikivisual image problems, you can also leave feedback here: http://www.wikihow.com/User_talk:Wikivisual
This article describes how to add a photo: http://www.wikihow.com/Put-a-Photo-in-a-wikiHow-Article
I hope this helps @Sycamore3

Well, whaddyaknow? My first attempt to edit on Wikihow, my first visit to the Village Pump, and the first thread I see is spot-on. OK, here goes: I followed a friend’s link to [[How to become an activist]]. While reading it, I noticed an overall problem on the page. I didn’t know how to comment on it till I saw the Tips section, and I added a subparagraph there: >>> Try to become aware of ways in which you may be unintentionally discriminating within your group. For example, *this page would be a sight better if the characters in the drawings _weren’t all WHITE._* <<< Got that? I hope so.

You can also give feedback for individual images by clicking the “Helpful?” link that appears when you hover over the image.
@Thnidu
, wikiHow illustrators attempt to be diverse in illustrations. One article isn’t a great sample of the whole site.
Not to be rude, but some are plain wierd

The Wikivisual effort adds images in all sorts of styles depending on the topic - some cartoon, some screenshots, some photography, and some technical illustrations, depending on what suits the article. The project has gone through lots of experimentation and honed its processes a lot over the years, and a big recent drive has been on making images more instructional and helpful. Many are really great, but we all know that not every Wikivisual image out there is the best it could be (just as not every wikiHow article is the best it can be! We’re a constant work in progress). We’re always happy to pass on feedback about ones that miss the mark so they can be redone. If they’re older in particular, they might really need reworking, and the team is happy to tackle them. Please feel free to send them along
@Thnidu
I added that one to the feedback list- thanks for the heads-up. It’d be great to get some more diversity in there!
