Not sure if this is a bug but the CG tool keeps presenting me with the same articles to categorise again.    I’m pretty sure that my agreement of categorising “how to make an apple/banana/pear pancake” into the “fruit pancakes” category is not at fault but the tool seems to want to question me about them again.    Also,  the tool makes a note of the choices I’ve made (stats definitely increase) but the tick next to the article only shows a 1 which,  I’m assuming,  means it hasn’t recorded my previous choice.

This is definitely putting me off using the tool as I don’t know if it’s helping the community or not.

Hey hey @Tlclaughter - I’ll be honest not exactly sure how the voting works on CG anymore (ie how many votes it takes), since it’s been a while since we made any changes there, and the engineer who built it isn’t with the wikiHaus anymore. But regardless, what you’re describing doesn’t sound right! I’ve loaded up the tool a couple of times in the last couple of days (after seeing a weird repeat removal by the bot), and I haven’t seen a repeat yet myself but I’m probably not using it as much as you, so you’re probably more likely to see it. How often do you think you’re seeing repeats?

Either way, I believe you that things are going 'round more than they should! I’ll file a bug report and hopefully an engineer can take a look at some point soon and see what’s going on. But if you have any examples of specifics, let me know - I can share that in the report, too, and it may help get things sorted out more quickly.

PS If you’re in the category mood and that tool is frustrating while it’s glitchy, you could always dive in to direct categorizing with  https://www.wikihow.com/Special:Categorizer - lots to do there:slight_smile:

A brave engineer, Aaron, waded into the code here. He’s released some changes to improve how the tool picks articles and to make sure that topics that have gone around once for a particular category don’t reappear for that same category in future (they may still appear again for other categories). We’re hoping things will be a little smoother now!

Of course, with this fix, we may well zoom through the queue much more quickly now, if there were lots of repeats before! We’ll have to see how that goes. But getting every article reviewed and done would be a pretty high quality problem, and certainly better than buggy behavior:wink:

I’ll close this thread now, but if folks see any issues with the fix or any other problems come up, feel free to ping me on my talk page or open another thread.
