There are now more than 50,000 unused images files on wikiHow ( see here
for full list). This is mainly an administrative task that needs administrative help (I unfortunately do not have the permission to delete images). Each of the images probably should be deleted (or, if they have use on wikiHow, should be linked to, etc.) If the image is related to a template can we get the image linked on the template page?
I think this is a good administrative task. The IFD policy specifies that if an image is unused within seven days of import or upload, it can be deleted. The unused files list is probably incomplete as it truncates at 50,000.
@JayneG
could we maybe get a full database report on the number of unused images from the backend? Because like I said the special page truncates at 50,000 and around late 2008, so definitely there are more.

Thanks, Aasim, but this isn’t something that we’re looking to spend time on at the moment.

Yeah I figure it might be a rainy day thing.
There might be some merit to keeping the “sensible” images for image reusers—several weeks ago, I found this
unused image from 2018 to be suitable for a step in a new article.
while im not fully against the deletion of wanted files, we have to be able to run better searches for the content within the picture making searches more valuable for other articles otherwise leaving them sit while policy and policy templates pages saying they are to be deleted, something thats outdated and must be updated.
