Hi there!

I’m not really familiar with this but apparently I need consensus before I can use a new template. So, here it is!

Thanks guys.

We already have the {{welcome}} template - I’m not sure why we need another one?

I’d second Alex on this one. wikiHow used to use more welcome templates, and honestly it wasn’t ideal because folks often got very general welcomes that felt more robotic than genuine. Nowadays, we do have the automatic welcomebot to welcome everybody with the basics (coming from booster and admin accounts automatically), but beyond that we try to emphasize approaching each person with specific, positive, encouraging welcomes, particularly through the Welcome Wagon. If you want to support and encourage someone new, definitely go for it, but I’d try connecting with them about what they’re doing, rather than providing just a general template that doesn’t really help them on their unique wiki journey:slight_smile:

I disagree with the existence of this template. We already have the {{welcome}} template as previously mentioned, and we mainly use it if there’s no WelcomeBot message, which is rare. I prefer the idea of a personal welcome:  https://www.wikihow.com/Welcome-New-wikiHow-Users .

Yeah, I don’t really support welcome templates in general unless they are used by the Welcomebot.
