Hi everyone,

This feels like a surreal announcement to make, but I wanted to let you all know that after six fun years at wikiHow, I’ll be leaving on August 1st. I have some pretty big plans to spend some time back in New Zealand and travel more of the world for a few years! While I’m excited for this next chapter, it’s definitely going to be bittersweet to say goodbye to wikiHow.

I’ve really loved being part of this community. Getting to work alongside so many different people on our shared mission has been one of the best parts of my time here. The thoughtfulness, generosity, and passion that wikiHowians bring to the site every day is something truly special, and I feel lucky to have been a part of it.

On the logistics side: as I head off, we’re still working through what the next phase of the Community Manager role will look like. In the meantime though, the team is here to support you and we have a new CommunityTeam account that you can reach out to with questions, ideas, or anything else you’d normally come to me for, and someone from the team will get back to you.:slight_smile:We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we get our bearings a bit during this transition.

Thank you for helping make wikiHow such a meaningful place to come to every day, and for all the ways you show up to help others. Whether editing, working in the dashboard tools, writing, wikiGnoming, or helping other editors, I am constantly impressed and inspired by your dedication to this project! I’ll miss you all, and will be cheering you on from afar. Thank you for everything!:green_heart:

You know, although Jayne approached me on my real birthday in 2019 and I felt I had no respect for them at first, I actually warmed up to Jayne. They became a friend - a friend who could listen to problems and act accordingly. Maybe they weren’t the last Liason we had - Anna (who I still communicate with every so often) - but they were someone who could help pick out the right answer to a situation (like we’re having right now) or for someone who you could lend a hand with answering to a problem needing more upper-management help in so many places -from Wikivisual to Seymour Edits (at times) to countless other times when there was a bug that needed to be filed. They continued to act.

Although you might forget some of us normal names in time, remember that you can always come back and say “hi.” My User_talk page and email door are always open. You know I respond within a reputable amount of time.

But it’s not so much as easy as seeing the name popping around, but about you passing the baton to the next Liason, as this site has always done, and that’s what’s always hard for me. Knowing that this site is changing, losing that face between Staff and volunteers, isn’t exactly too pleasant on me. Let’s not misunderstand, talk pages help, but they don’t cure all ills with all situations, and can only help in certain situations. I fear that that account will allow a deaf ear to be turned on, and no situations will be remedied. There’s no other way to say it: Thanks, but you’ll be missed!

Oh and one other thing…“Until we meet again…”
