I have been in the habit of leaving them in NAB…is there any reason to continue to do this or does it really matter where it is?

I usually mark them boosted since you really can’t do anything.

I usually pull a paragraph or two into a Google search (whether I’m RC patrolling or NAB boosting the article), apply the {{copyvio|x.yz}} tag and move on.

If you’ve already added the {{copyvio}} template to the article, you could probably boost it or skip it. Once Dave Crosby reviews it, (I believe) most of the time it gets deleted. Maybe Dave can weigh in with his thoughts on whether we should leave them to boost after they’ve been reviewed, or whether most of them get deleted so we can just boost them after adding {{copyvio}}.

You guys are experts! I wish I could have been at wikihow 5-10 years ago!

The only reason that they MIGHT be left in NAB is because the majority of them aren’t edited before getting the copyvio…Of course, when they are copyvios, most of them are fairly well written…most of them.

About 3/4s don’t survive a copyvio review with say 1/2 the remainder moving straight into NFD so it’s probably not a lot being considered. But yes, those remaining aren’t usually in format. I’m not a NABber, so I’ll leave the boost/not boost decision to you guys/gals. It’s not a lot that I leave with a {{format}}.

And I must add, you guys do a great/important job finding them.

The Copyvio tool helps a lot!

I usually put any relevant tags on the article (format, stub, NFD), in addition to the copyvio tag, so that it gets the attention it needs if it survives. Then I mark as patrolled.

I think that’s a pretty good idea.

I agree with Krystle too, but my concern is that what if it entices other folks to do the same? In my opinion, there’s a time and a place for getting some steps and such off of other sites, but honestly, in order to make that article unique it has to be placed in a person’s own words. Copying and pasting from another site is just plain laziness, not to mention cheating. But that’s my personal opinion.

But I kinda do the same as Krystle: put the copyvio tag on, plus a stub or format tag (if I feel it deserves one), then mark as patrol and let Dave handle it.

For it to really make it easy for Dave, it would be a good idea to put the NFDs or whatever tags on them, save them, and then put on the copyvio and blank out the article.

This actually might make a good NAB article.
