Never mind, this appears to only be an issue when yellow tags are added to the article upon initial publication. Can you leave this bug report open, though, as it can disappoint readers if they come across half-baked articles

This doesn’t sound like a bug - and I tested with a new article and it behaved as expected. There are just certain scenarios where a new article will show (eg to the author or to someone with edit cookies or with the new article link), to allow anon authors to keep working on articles they’ve started even if they’re not promoted yet. Unless we see some kind of other issues, I think we’re ok here
