I just came up with something that I hought would be great! We could start a new project, sort of like wikiTutors, except a little different. We could do something where experienced
page designers could teach users how to design pages! And I Know that there are alreadyartixles on how to do it, but it would be so much better to learn from someone who can explain it in a way that you will understand it! I learned how to add color to pages, create UIB’s, and archive pages all from users because the articles were too confusing! Thoughts?
Um, do we really need Page Designer tutors? I mean, this is a how to manual, not a page designing website…
I think it’s a good idea, I mean, I must have read the article a million times, but never understood it. ;)) But it. should just be a page, not a team, right? June Days
She has a point, page designing’s a mini, wikiHow’s the major. June Days

Highly unnecessary. Ask someone for help if you need it, but there’s no need for an organized project for that stuff. The focus is the how-to manual & articles, not the userpages.

Great idea…I’m With June Days. When i first came here, i read the article million times, but i didn’t understand it until a page designer told me how.
No. Page designing doesn’t have ANYTHING to do with our Mission
, which is to build the world’s largest, highest quality, free how-to manual. Teams are to help improve articles/or use tools/or to help others with wikiHow, not to design pages. But thanks for the idea!

Why not put your knowledge and revise the current articles relating to page designing? Add screenshots with arrows, be creative and upload a video like how Krystle did with the patrolling one, or clarify any information to make it accurate if it’s “confusing”.
Agree. I think you should just get private tutoring.

Wait, this idea could work, and in what better form than a template? Think about it. You could send inexperienced page designers a template with links on wikiHow page designing. If the articles the links lead to need work, by all means work on them. And, remember the mission.
Great idea ISMKW! Anyone else agree?
No; I couldn’t support a template creation that’s used to coach editors in an activity that is the least mission-worthy of all. Bear in mind, if it were technically feasible (not breaking other functionality) then page designing would likely have been banned following discussion in other forum threads.
You mean “bear”. I don’t think your mind is bare. We certainly can’t create another project for something that isn’t critical to our mission, but one template used in an informative way can’t hurt. Think about it. By linking to how to articles about how to best design talk pages, we are furthering the mission (albeit in a roundabout way). Or we could just do away with page designing entirely. Your vote, but staying neutral about this is no longer a recommendable option.

But userpages, talkpages, and the design/focus of it, like said many countless times in the past (including this thread) is the least concern of the site overall. There are people that are using the current {{Page Designer}} template and abusing it by advertising it on new registered people’s talk pages. What’s the use of creating yet another one, that would encourage “designing/decoration lessons”, when that could be accomplished by improving such articles ---- which by the way, would be going along with the mission. “Your vote, but staying neutral about this is no longer a recommendable option.”
- Huh?
Do you know what would be really cool? Some teenager lecturing someone several times his age for making an absent-minded typo. I fucking love it
when that happens. I’m on record for not opposing page design, no matter how ugly, but an actual page design project
? Really?

Unless someone’s found a way to teach good taste, I don’t see the point. There’s very little you can teach someone that isn’t available in some article somewhere. If the articles aren’t good enough or are too confusing, edit them so they are good enough and are easy to understand.
What I meant was that if someone wants to learn page designing, and has a good idea on it, but doesn’t kow how to do it, someone can put on the template or something.

Perhaps those who felt the “how to” article on page designing was too complex to be understandable could now return to that article with their new and improved knowledge… and could improve the article so that other newbies will not have the same problems they did. wikiHow is a “do-ocracy”. If you see a problem and you’ve got the skillset to ameliorate the problem… just FIX it.
I may have corrected him, but you just called him old there. I don’t think there is anyone alive that is several
times my age.
I’ve been hearing far too much about page designing - it’s high time we either rally to drop it or rally to keep it. Pick a side, any side.
