Hi,
Since a few days, in talk pages, the users’s profile pictures are not showing. Some profiles pictures are visible randomly and some are not. This issue is only with profiles pictures. Instead of their profiles pictures, their names are showing in its place. The images in articles etc are showing properly. No issues with them. I waited for one day but when the issue continued the next day, I reported in the Help Team Page. Sarah suggested me to report it here for proper assistance.
Also, a second issue is with forum log in. We need to log in just to the wikiHow account and then we can click on forums to comment in it. But since 3-4 days I am asked to log in to the forums separately again. Please help.Thanks.
I think I’m having the same problem as well. As I was patrolling a few seconds ago, profile pictures were blank with a blue question mark. It’s all right with the forums. I get easy access to it, though I can’t understand Vishwavijay’s situation.
Its alright with me too in the forums. The profile pictures are showing here, not in the wikiHow site.

The other problem I wrote was that one log in is enough to access both the site and the forums but now I am asked to sign in two times - one for the site and then for the forums.

I’m not sure about the profile images, but for the forum bug, I have had that problem where my main account is signed in, but the forums aren’t. I think logging out on your main account and logging back in should fix it, but it might not work. One person reported the bug and it wasn’t fixed until the redesign for the forums.
^ Yeah. Something happened once that caused a lot of us to be locked out of the forums for a few days, but still be able to edit the main site. I had seen previous threads about the issue, and I think that it had to do with all of us somehow being given the “Banned” status. It would have had to have been manually undone by Krystle and possibly Anna and some others, by unchecking that “Banned” statistic on all of our accounts, just so we could get back in.

Oh so it has happened in the past. I read in many forum threads that a lot of updates are being done at the background. So I waited for a couple of day. But its continuing… Banned status, wow, that I didnt know.
I dont mind waiting for issues to be sorted because not seeing the profile picture is not a big issue nor is having to log in separately to access the forums.
If it adds or helps, I among the profile pictures that are visible, I see SarahB’s profile picture all clear

Oh interesting - I haven’t seen the profile picture issue. I just took a look down a long talk page and tried a few patrols and they were all visible. Maybe it was temporary? Or maybe it’s dependent on browser, connection, or some other interfering factor. Would you guys mind sharing some screenshots of what you’re seeing, and info about what browsers you’re using and what tasks you’re doing? That’d be really helpful - thanks!
Vish, for the forum log-in issue, I’d try logging completely out of both wikiHow and the forums, and clearing your cookies for them. Then try logging in freshly to wikiHow again, and see if that helps. Hope so!

I just logged in and found that it didnt require me to log in from the forum sign in option to access the forums. So things acting different again. The profile pics showed yesterday and again its not showing today. There has been no change from my side in terms of the browser, connection, net settings, cookies etc since the beginning. I’ll send the screen grabs of my talk page which is not showing the profile pics to you now. Thanks.

I think that the profile picture issue has to do with the URL being https://ssl.wikihow.com
, rather than http://www.wikihow.com
. Changing the “ssl” to “www” seemed to solve the profile picture issue on my end.

I was wondering why I see ssl these days. Actually this login, now, I can see the profile pics (Also, ssl is not showing in the url either) but in my previous log in, some hours ago, I couldnt see the profile pictures.
^ Assuming that you changed the “ssl” to “www”, that should hopefully solve the profile picture problem for now, but who knows if something bigger could be around that would need a fix.
Thanks for bringing the ssl up dan, I just overlooked it or as it didnt seem like something mentionable.
^ You are welcome. The profile pictures were showing fine for me, previously, but then I suddenly started also having the issue. It only took me minutes to figure out that it had to do with the “ssl” in the URL. I am guessing that it is something that they used long before I signed up.
Oh, then I wonder how it appeared suddenly. It showed in the articles url also.
